Print Buyer – Washington, D.C. or Milwaukee, WI

ABD Direct is a full-service direct response fundraising communications consulting firm. For more than 40 years, we have fostered dedicated partnerships with non-profit charitable and advocacy organizations as well as political campaigns and committees pushing the boundaries of direct response fundraising and securing the resources they need to fulfill their critical missions. ABD Direct has a long history of developing integrated programs and forward-thinking direct response fundraising solutions which pave the way for success for some of the nation’s leading non-profit organizations and progressive political campaigns.

We are looking for a seasoned print buyer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has print industry experience with a high degree of attention to detail. They will play a key role supporting both the internal teams as well as the client making sure that we are executing our strategic plan to support the fundraising goals of our client partners.

Core Responsibilities

  • Organize, schedule, coordinate and manage activities to obtain workflow efficiency and accuracy.
  • Review and complete electronic estimate requests for accuracy and cost effectiveness.
  • Collect competitive bids from appropriate vendors.
  • Prepare and submit detailed purchase orders to vendors.
  • Approve printer proofs, attend press checks as needed and maintain quality control procedures.
  • Communicate with all internal and external customers and vendors to ensure accurate and timely production goals are met.
  • Organize and maintain all documentation related to jobs in every stage of the process. Ensure on-time invoicing.
  • Understand and ensure security protocol compliance.

Experience and Skills Required

  • 2 years of hands-on experience in the print and mail industry or related field or equivalent related work experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, proactive, comfortable presenting to internal teams to achieve client and common goals.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Account Coordinator – Washington, D.C. or Milwaukee, WI

ABD Direct is a full-service direct response fundraising communications consulting firm. The ideal candidate is creative, dedicated and energetic, with a passion for helping progressive causes change the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages all schedules for clients including making updates and ensuring deadlines are met. Responsible for knowing the status of all elements related to campaign and trafficking components according to deadlines.
  • Involved with copy review process, including coordinating edits and versioning copy as needed.
  • Works directly with outside vendors.
  • Reviews and approves set-ups without oversight.
  • Serves as client’s point person for all production-related items as well as internal point person for these times.
  • Coordinates data uploads (costs, source codes).
  • Assists with reporting as needed.
  • Manages individual projects to budget.
  • Actively participates in client calls and in-person meetings.
  • Assists with meeting coordination, management, and follow-up.
  • Drafts all relevant meeting notes for team review.
  • Participates as needed in training of Account Assistants.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 2-4 years experience in non-profit direct marketing or an equivalent combination of related training and relevant experience.
  • Strong project management skills – adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing and executing deadline-oriented projects.
  • Proven experience multi-tasking and managing a high volume of projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Able to develop and maintain quality control systems.
  • Able to work independently in a changing environment, meet tight deadlines.
  • Superior critical thinking skills.  The ability to exercise good judgment and decision making to set and meet results-oriented goals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to relate to colleagues, clients and other partners.
  • Fully understands the direct mail process.
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of data segmentation and process.
  • Can prioritize multiple tasks without guidance.
  • Ability to manage many projects at once while meeting deadlines.

Account Executive – Washington, D.C., Milwaukee, WI or Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes strategy and responsible for the development of all mailplans and listplans.
  • Develops reporting as needed and assists with analysis (identifying needs or performing these projects if able.)
  • Drives the participation of all strategy memos, either developing wholesale, or ensuring those who need to contribute do.
  • Actively participates in developing client strategy, suggesting new creative ideas, testing strategy and other ideas to support the overall success of the client.
  • Develops and implements annual communications calendar.
  • Provides support in annual budget development and track performance to budget.
  • Serves as the primary client contact.
  • Represents ABD Direct at industry events, both through attendance and presentations.
  • Manage relationships with other fundraising vendors involved with the clients.
  • Manage relationships with other vendor partners involved with the clients.
  • Responsible for understanding larger industry trends and the impact on clients and the company.
  • Helps to identify new business opportunities for the company and may participate in the sales process.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in non-profit direct marketing or an equivalent combination of related training and relevant experience.
  • Adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, following through deadline-oriented projects
  • Commitment to maintaining excellence in client service.
  • Able to work independently in a changing environment, meet tight deadlines, exercise good judgment and decision-making to set and meet results-oriented goals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree

Account Assistant – Washington, D.C. or Milwaukee, WI

The Account Assistant plays a key role on account teams supporting both the internal teams as well as the client making sure that we are exectuing on our strategic plan to support the fundraising goals of our client partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists team with all aspects of direct mail production.
  • Manages cost estimate development, invoicing and cost reconciliation.
  • Supports the development of all creative assets and coordinates edits with designers and the team.
  • Monitors and tracks all jobs across all channels and updates weekly schedule. Keeps all members of the team up to date.
  • Serves as primary proofreader for all materials being develop for clients.
  • Assists with management of inventory and print management.
  • Responsible for sample management in DC office.
  • Other administrative duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic MS Office programs.
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to follow through on assignments as given.
