Senior Account Director – Washington, D.C.

ABD Direct is currently seeking a Senior Account Director to join its Washington, DC team.  The Senior Account Director plays the lead role on our client teams.  Every day you will help chart the course for some of the most inspiring causes in the country – setting strategy, developing budgets, managing creative, and overseeing the implementation of complex, multi-channel fundraising programs.  Additionally, the Senior Account Director serves as the client relationship manager, ensuring expectations are met for each of the clients we serve while managing and guiding the account teams to work in partnership with our clients.

The Account Director must demonstrate the ability to lead teams, meet client revenue goals, and to take an idea from conception to reality and the experience to guide a team in both strategy development and execution.  The ideal candidate is a creative, dedicated and energetic fundraiser, with a passion for helping progressive causes change the world.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Client Management

  • Plays primary role in day-to-day relationship management for a portfolio of non-profit organizations. Maintains regular communications with clients to understand shifting needs and priorities.  Manages relationship to ensure long-term retention of our client-base.
  • Leads and oversees the development and execution of fundraising strategies, goals and objectives for an integrated direct response marketing portfolio.
  • Responsible for directing strategies for meeting or exceeding revenue targets on behalf of their clients.
  • Plays a lead role in developing messaging and creative strategies for robust multi-channel campaigns.
  • Implements annual fundraising campaigns and programs.
  • Provides robust reporting and analysis to the client:
    • Ensures weekly stat reports are ready for the client
    • Directs/oversees ongoing analytics projects and one-off projects as required to ensure the overall health of the program.
    • Prepares written reports and analysis to demonstrate the status of a client’s program;
    • Responsible for establishing quarterly review meetings and ensuring the creation of all deliverables is complete in advance of the meeting;
    • Responsible for establishing and leading any regular or one-off meetings with the client or the internal team.

Campaign Implementation and Team Leadership

  • Oversees a client team that supports the development and implementation of the annual fundraising strategy for our clients. The team:
    • Oversees the selection criteria, test strategies and performance evaluation of direct mail appeals and online marketing campaigns.
    • Prepares and closely monitors direct response timelines and calendars.
    • Oversees the trafficking, editing and approval of all creative content and supporting materials.
    • Manage and direct external partners and vendor teams to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and high-level performance for the overall program.
    • Coordinates with internal and external service providers to ensure proper list segmentation, coding and reporting.
    • Works cross functionally and collaboratively with marketing and communications, engagement, program and donor services departments as it relates to direct mail, online marketing, social media, website and database.

Management

  • Directly supervises staff:
    • Responsible for providing professional growth and development opportunities for each direct report
    • Ensures annual goals are established and a plan is in place to assist the team in meeting these goals;
    • Works to create a great place to work to support overall morale, staff retention, and inspire commitment to shared company vision.
  • Participates as a member of the DC leadership team.
  • Supports the overall brand and marketing efforts of ABD Direct, both internally and externally, including, but not limited to representing ABD Direct at industry events, both through attendance and presentations, volunteering in industry committees, groups, and the like, participating in internal promotions and office events.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in non-profit direct marketing or an equivalent combination of related training and relevant experience.
  • Adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, following through deadline-oriented projects
  • Able to build, grow and manage high-functioning teams working under tight deadlines and revenue expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Adept at writing robust strategy and reporting documents as well as able to communication effectively and clearly with a wide variety of partners.
  • Commitment to maintaining excellence in client service and ensuring we are meeting the needs of a variety of clients who rely on us to support their critical missions.
  • Able to work independently in a changing environment, meet tight deadlines, exercise good judgment and decision-making to set and meet results-oriented goals.
  • Some travel required; ability to work off-hours in support of client meetings and events.
  • Excellence in MS Office, particularly in Excel to support reporting and analytics requirements.

Account Excecutive – Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes strategy and responsible for the development of all mailplans and listplans.
  • Develops reporting as needed and assists with analysis (identifying needs or performing these projects if able.)
  • Drives the participation of all strategy memos, either developing wholesale, or ensuring those who need to contribute do.
  • Actively participates in developing client strategy, suggesting new creative ideas, testing strategy and other ideas to support the overall success of the client.
  • Develops and implements annual communications calendar.
  • Provides support in annual budget development and track performance to budget.
  • Serves as the primary client contact.
  • Leads client and internal meetings
  • Represents ABD Direct at industry events, both through attendance and presentations.
  • Manage relationships with other fundraising vendors involved with the clients.
  • Manage relationships with other vendor partners involved with the clients.
  • Responsible for understanding larger industry trends and the impact on clients and the company.
  • Helps to identify new business opportunities for the company and may participate in the sales process.

Digital Account Coordinator – Washington, D.C.

We are looking for a Digital Account Coordinator to join our team. The Digital Account Coordinator is a key member of a team, working with a Strategist, Creative Director, and Analyst. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and implementation of digital and multichannel campaign strategies. The ideal candidate is creative, dedicated and energetic, with a passion for helping progressive causes change the world. The Digital Account Coordinator will work with a variety of clients on both digital and integrated digital/direct mail programs.

Specific responsibilities include maintaining detailed schedules, trafficking copy, managing online advertising campaigns, quality assurance, social media posting, extracting data from eCRM systems, and preparing reports based on that data. Responsibilities may vary depending on experience. This position has excellent growth potential, and will include exposure to high-level facets of the organization’s operations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in digital marketing or an equivalent combination of related training and relevant experience; nonprofit experience a plus
  • Experience working on email campaigns, advocacy programs, and social media
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Intense attention to detail with strong self-organization skills
  • Mastery of HTML/CSS needed to set up, troubleshoot, and launch emails
  • Demonstrated understanding of email and digital advertising best practices and benchmarks
  • Experience working with Facebook Advertising, Google AdWords and Analytics
  • Knowledge of e-CRM platforms such as Luminate, EveryAction, Engaging Networks, and Salesforce
  • Knowledge of email platforms such as MailChimp and Constant Contact a plus

The Account Assistant plays a key role on account teams supporting both the internal teams as well as the client making sure that we are exectuing on our strategic plan to support the fundraising goals of our client partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists team with all aspects of direct mail production.
  • Manages cost estimate development, invoicing and cost reconciliation.
  • Supports the development of all creative assets and coordinates edits with designers and the team.
  • Monitors and tracks all jobs across all channels and updates weekly schedule. Keeps all members of the team up to date.
  • Serves as primary proofreader for all materials being develop for clients.
  • Assists with management of inventory and print management.
  • Responsible for sample management in DC office.
